Dr. Brion Long is a highly accomplished dentist and orthodontist dedicated to providing exceptional dental care to his patients. Graduating with honors from Oregon Health and Science University, Dr. Long's career began as the Dental Director of La Clinica del Valle, Southern Oregon's largest public healthcare facility. In this role, he managed multiple dental clinics and performed over 6000 procedures on pediatric patients, focusing on serving the underserved population. He also held significant leadership positions, including Co-President of the Northwest Regional Primary Care Association and a member of the Steering Committee for the California Primary Care Association.
Dr. Long furthered his education by completing a three-year orthodontic residency at the University of Florida in 2009. During his residency, he conducted benchmark mixed-dentition research for Align Technology, the manufacturer of Invisalign. He has also served as adjunct faculty at Oregon Health and Science University, the Oregon Institute of Technology, and is currently an adjunct clinical professor at the University of Florida’s College of Dentistry.
In addition to his extensive academic and professional background, Dr. Long has published multiple articles and lectured on pediatric dentistry and orthodontics. He served as the lead pediatric dental chair for the Florida Mission of Mercy when it was held in Tallahassee, demonstrating his commitment to community service. Dr. Long also serves on the advisory board for Tallahassee State College's hygiene program and is an adjunct faculty member there.
Growing up in Oregon, Dr. Long practiced there for several years before relocating to Florida in 2014. He enjoyed the Gainesville area and its community, eventually settling in Tallahassee. Inspired by a desire to help people and a passion for healthcare, Dr. Long pursued dentistry to alleviate the fear and anxiety many patients feel about dental visits, aiming to provide the best care possible.
Dr. Long is passionate about orthodontics, as he believes transforming smiles can truly change lives. He also enjoys pediatric dentistry, which allows him to set young patients on a path toward lifelong good oral health. What sets his practice, Smileworks, apart is their focus on utilizing technology to enhance patient treatment and improve efficiency, as well as their commitment to hiring highly trained professionals who are passionate about providing excellent care.
In his free time, Dr. Long enjoys traveling, exploring different cultures, and taking advantage of the outdoor opportunities in northern Florida, such as visiting the springs and the beach. He is also an outdoor enthusiast and enjoys college sports and dental mission trips.
