Knocked-out and loosened teeth, chips and fractures, severe toothaches, dental abscesses and facial swelling, soft-tissue injuries to lips and gums, lost fillings, and broken orthodontic appliances. If your child has trouble breathing or swallowing, or has suffered a head injury, go to the emergency room first — then call us for the dental follow-up.
Why call a pediatric dentist instead of the ER?
Most hospital ERs don't have a dentist on staff — they can manage pain and infection but usually can't save or repair a tooth. Calling us first means your child is treated by specialists in children's dental trauma, often the same day, at a fraction of an ER bill.

What should I do if my child knocks out a permanent tooth?
Time matters most. Handle the tooth by the crown (not the root), rinse it gently without scrubbing, and try to place it back in the socket — or keep it in milk. Call us immediately at (850) 765-3748; a tooth replanted within 30–60 minutes has the best chance of survival.
Is a chipped baby tooth an emergency?
Call us the same day. Small chips may just need smoothing, but we'll check for nerve involvement and damage to the permanent tooth developing underneath.
What helps a child's toothache before the appointment?
Rinse with warm salt water, gently floss to remove any trapped food, apply a cold compress outside the cheek, and use age-appropriate children's pain reliever as directed. Never place aspirin on the gums.
